Moved, Vacationed and Now Back to Life

We moved from Maryland with very little complications. A few days of driving and most of them longer than I would have liked but still easy. Then we had a month long vacation. We visited his father's, his mother's and my parents. We got to go to the Corpus Christi Aquarium and the beach all in one day. It was fun floating the river and having a birthday party for Jeremy. We saw old friends and made plans to see them again soon since we're finally living so close! Things have wound down now and we're getting back to real life!

At the end of June we started looking for a place to live. Most of it was AWFUL! I prayed the night before we went out to find our house. Now we've got a nice 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a play room. Our stuff arrived and we're still unpacking but closing in on the finish line.

For now it is back to the usual grind. Tomorrow my husband goes to his unit. I'm still getting lost on post, in the commissary and sometimes around town but it is a little less everyday. I'm missing the friends I made in Maryland but I am happy to be home!

Check list....IT NEVER ENDS!

Jeremy has worked his final day at Kirk! I'm so excited that he is done and now the real moving stuff begins. Movers, out processing and saying goodbye are all on our to do list. I keep posting about the move and doing stuff for it but it doesn't seem real. It almost feels like this will always be our home, even though I know that isn't the case.

Today we had the moving inspection. Kathy from the moving company came by with her nifty tablet computer and went through the house estimating boxes for each room. Apparently we don't have as much stuff as we think we do but to us it still seems like too much! Before Kathy was done I had thought of a bunch more stuff that had to be done before the movers could put everything on the trunk of Thursday.

After spending half the afternoon cleaning out my car (maybe this will remind me to do it more often!) we cleaned out Jeremy's car so we could take it for an oil change. Before we could even leave I remembered that we had to take a dresser to my friend's house that I promised her two months ago. Most of the evening was spent on three projects leaving many others unfinished or we didn't even have time to start. I see a long weekend ahead of us!

Our long checklist this weekend includes a mock packing of our cars to make sure we can make everything fit, plus it has to be put aside so the movers don't pack something they don't need to. Cleaning up the outdoor toys and furniture and moving them to the car port. Plus packing our suitcases, finishing laundry, an oil change and collecting food at 10:30 for our church function. I am beginning to think I've stretched myself too far but I'm hoping a prayer and a couple of Five Hour Energy drinks will keep me moving through this checklist and into next week!

Getting Ready!

On Monday the movers come to pack. The house is in reasonable order. I have purged out all the stuff out of my house and given away the clothes that don't fit. They'll come pack and pack our stuff away and put it on a huge truck. Then we'll wait another week before we'll leave our home of four years.

Four years ago we moved up here. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and miserable. Now we're leaving with a dog and a girl who is far from being a baby. I almost jumped up and down and screamed when my husband told me that they had an opening at Ft. Hood. Close to family and offering a different experience it seems like the perfect opportunity for us.

I'll miss a lot of things about Maryland. Our friends, our church and the amazing sights we didn't get to see while we were stationed up here. Even though I'm sad to leave I am equally happy to be back in my beloved state and near old friends and family.
